Michelin Recalls More Than a Million LTX Tires

We have some major news to tell you about today: Michelin has recalled over a million tires across the nation due to a serious tread separation issue.

An estimated 1.2 million tires are affected by the recall. Drivers are encouraged to return to their local Michelin deal for a full replacement as soon as possible. The replacement will be provided free of charge.

The recall began on January 6, 2014. The following Michelin tires are affected by the recall:

-Michelin LTX M/S tires size LT225/75R16 115/112R LRE manufactured between January 10, 2010 and June 23, 2012.

The tires were supplied for use as original equipment on select Ford vehicle models.

They were also used as replacement equipment on a number of commercial light trucks, heavy-duty vans, large pickup trucks, and RVs.

Why are the tires being recalled?

The tires are being recalled because Michelin has identified a serious tread separation issue. This separation issue can lead to rapid air loss, which could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and lead to a crash.
