Home Depot Patio Set Rocking Chairs Recalled

DIMENSION INDUSTRIES announced a recall earlier last month for its outdoor patio set rockers. The rockers can break during normal use and pose a fall hazard to consumers. They were sold at Home Depot stores across America.

Customers who purchased the patio set can receive a full refund by contacting Dimension Industries. The refund is available for all customers who purchased either the full patio set or purchased the two chairs separately.

All of the affected units were sold at Home Depot stores across America and online at HOMEDEPOT.COM between October 2014 and January 2015 for approximately $280 (for the two chair set) or $1,000 (for the full patio set).

An estimated 25,000 units are affected by the recall. The recalled units include Home Depot’s Hampton Bay-branded Niles Park Collection patio sets. The sets are made of cast aluminum and woven fabric and feature brown or tan cushions. Some sets also feature cushions with generic fabric to allow for custom covers.

Patio sets were sold in combinations of four rocking chairs and a tile-top fire pit or in a set of two rocking chairs, a love seat, and a rectangular coffee table. Some customers may also have purchased the set of two chairs separately.

The rocking chairs are the only item in the set known to pose a hazard to consumers.

To check if your chair has been affected by the recall, look at the label on the lower cross bar along the back of the recalled chair. Chairs with the following SKU number have been recalled: 658479, 658480, 658485, 658486, 662696, 682688 or 1000051056.

The Firm Has Received Three Reports of the Patio Chairs Breaking

Thus far, there have been three reports of the rocking chairs breaking, although no injuries have been reported at this time.

The chairs were distributed by Dimension Industries Company Ltd. of Taiwan and originally manufactured by Guangdong Shunde Baiming Industry Co. Ltd. of China before being imported by Home Depot.

When a manufacturer messes up, it puts American lives in danger. Every day, thousands of Americans are injured as a result of manufacturing defects and product hazards.
